Julie Joyce

In the many differing and rewarding roles I have worked in as a nurse, a lecturer, a trainer, and an accredited cognitive behavioural therapist alongside being a wife, a daughter and a mother one of my most fulfilling roles has been my involvement with the very passionate team at Freed Beyond. The lived experiences in each of these contexts has been so helpful in bringing my own knowledge, skills, experience and an abundance of hope and compassion to those living with and living through disordered and distressed eating behaviours.

PAULA GIBSON

As someone who has lived experience of an eating disorder and is now fully recovered, I carry a passion to both support others on their journey to full recovery and to support those in the caring role. My passion resulted in me leaving the teaching profession to train as a counsellor and then as a Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders, Obesity and Nutritional Interventions. No experience in life is ever wasted and my teaching experience has benefitted me in the facilitation of our various programs and the delivery of our bespoke training. My experience working in the area of eating disorders is around 25 years and my passion to see people set free remains as strong as ever.

GIlly McCullough

After caring for my teenage daughter who experienced an eating disorder for several years this has led me to train as a counsellor and further as a Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders, Obesity and Nutritional Interventions. Having both lived experience in this area and the knowledge and skills acquired, I am passionate about bringing support to those that are impacted by Eating Disorders in a caring role, and hope that full recovery for everyone is possible.

Mandy MORROW

Having experienced an eating disorder from a young age I know the impact it can have on a person’s life and on those close to them. My own recovery journey began by undertaking the Freed course and it is an utter privilege to now be part of this wonderful team helping to bring hope and understanding to others.

As a qualified counsellor, I am passionate to see people experience freedom in their own lives and find solidarity in the group settings in what can otherwise be a very isolating experience. I am currently undertaking further training as a Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders, Obesity and Nutritional Interventions and look forward to people finding that there is life to be lived beyond the eating distress.

Testimonials

“During the course I was made to feel so comfortable and felt that I was being acknowledged for who I was. Throughout the weeks the program was explained well at each stage, and it never felt like there was any pressure on anyone. I appreciated that the course had such a holistic approach and even though I was a bloke I didn’t feel different to the other group members that were women…

Philip W (ED Sufferer)

“I wish this course could be made available to every family experiencing an eating distress. It has firmly put us on the right path and armed me with confidence, knowledge, resources to be able to continue the journey beyond the course. I want to stay connected and involved through the support group and am so thankful for that opportunity…”
